In Urdu, the Torah is exclusively referred to as توریت (Tawrat) . The term is derived from the Hebrew Torah (teaching/instruction). In Islamic terminology, which heavily influences Urdu religious literature, Tawrat is recognized as one of the four major divine books (Asmaani Kitaabein) revealed by Allah.
