Thor soon finds himself banished to Sakaar, a planet ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), a powerful and eccentric being who runs a gladiatorial contest called the Grandmaster's Games. On Sakaar, Thor meets Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a skilled warrior who becomes his ally, and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who is struggling with his own identity.

The movie picks up where Thor: The Dark World left off, with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) facing off against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on Sakaar, a planet ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). As Thor tries to escape, he learns that his home planet of Asgard is under threat from Hela (Cate Blanchett), the goddess of death and Thor's long-lost sister.
