Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, is Superman's cousin from the planet Krypton. Created by writer Otto Binder and artist Sam Lane, she first appeared in Action Comics #252 in 1959. Initially, Supergirl was introduced as a teenager with powers similar to Superman's, but over the years, her character has evolved to become a powerful and independent superhero in her own right.
