Specifically, it contrasts the early controversy surrounding her "proposed" marriage to Mohammad Sohrab Mirza with the highly politicized narrative of her marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The paper argues that Mirza’s romantic life has been weaponized by the media to police national identity, gender roles, and religious boundaries, ultimately transforming her personal relationships into sites of geopolitical contestation.
