Prerequisites Before installation, verify the following:
Hardware: Axis network camera, PoE injector (if no PoE switch), CAT5e/CAT6 cable, Router/Switch. Software: AXIS IP Utility (discovery tool), AXIS Device Manager (optional), or a modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox – NPAPI plugins like H.264 decoder are no longer required for modern Axis cameras using AXIS Live View API ). Network: DHCP server enabled (or static IP plan), open ports (HTTP 80, HTTPS 443, RTSP 554 if used externally). Credentials: Default username root (no password on first setup – mandatory to create a password upon first login ).
3. Step-by-Step Installation Procedure 3.1 Physical Installation
Mount the Axis camera according to the installation guide. Connect Ethernet cable to camera’s RJ45 port. Connect the other end to a PoE switch (or use a PoE injector + non-PoE switch).
