The film takes place in a world where monsters, known as MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms), have been terrorizing the planet for decades. The story follows Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a former Navy SEAL who's on a mission to rescue his wife, Elle (Elizabeth Olsen), and their family from San Francisco, which is under attack by Godzilla.
